Jobseeker privacy information

The short version

Your jobseeker profile is designed so you can be found by local employers without giving up your privacy. We never publish your full name, CV, phone number, address or email address.

What's visible — by your own setting

  • Employers only (default): your profile is visible solely to signed-in employer accounts that we have activated, and to The Local Page team.
  • Public: anyone can see your display name, area, headline, skills and the details you chose to include. Nothing else.
  • Hidden: nobody sees the profile while you keep it.

What stays private always

Your account email, full name, CV, contact details, preferred contact method, address and the private experience text. Your CV, if you upload one, is stored outside the public website and is only accessible by authorised The Local Page staff. Employer access to CVs requires your separate agreement, and employer accounts are individually activated by us.

Contact from employers

Unless you tick "employers may ask The Local Page to put them in touch", employers cannot initiate contact at all. If you do allow it, the request reaches us first and is relayed to you — your details are not handed over.

How long we keep it

Your profile stays until you deactivate or delete it. Deactivating hides it immediately; deleting removes it and your CV from storage. Accounts inactive for [retention period] may be reviewed and closed with notice to you.

Abuse and safety

Anyone can report a profile that concerns them. Reports are reviewed by our team, and profiles can be suspended while we investigate. If you feel unsafe, contact us via the contact form marked "Report a problem".

Your rights

You can access, export, correct or delete your data at any time from your account, or by contacting us. Full details are in the privacy notice, including how to complain to the ICO.
